This time last week the On a Day Like This team were busy working away dressing mannequins, filling up goodie-bags and blowing up balloons in preparation for our very first wedding opening evening at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham! We spent the day wandering the halls, staircases and passageways of this grand Elizabethan manor, setting up our Styling Coordination themes and welcoming our lovely suppliers to their stands.

When the time came to greet the excited brides and grooms-to-be patiently waiting outside, the sun had finally made an appearance and the Hall was looking amazing! Our beautiful hire props filled The Grand Hall, and our goodie-bags awaited their lucky owners at the entrance way.

To the left of the room, our New Age Vintage theme was showcased. This theme is eclectic and soft, with a pretty look and feel and subtle bohemian vibes. Our quirky, golden pineapples and vintage book centerpieces were a particular hit for this theme!

And to the right of The Grand Hall, in front of the stone archways, our beautiful Enchanted Theme was displayed and styled on long rows of tables, filling the room. This theme is rustic and earthy, with pure tones to give a magical feel. We especially love our rustic stags head and the heavy use of candles in this theme, it oozes charm and character!

As you may have already spotted in the background of some of these photographs, The Grand Hall was also home to some of our lovely suppliers for the evening! Our wedding open events not only give you a taste of who WE are as stylists, but also who we like to work with and what ‘Team OADLT’ is all about – so we invited along some of our talented industry friends to showcase their work and services. Our guests were absolutely spoilt for choice with who attended and we’re so happy that they were all able to make it! But, “who were they?” you ask…

And last but not least for The Grand Hall, our preferred dress designer and maker, Timeless Couture. We styled their display of stunning bridal gowns on vintage pallets and mannequins in the centre of the room. The detailing on these dresses were amazing, we hope our guests fell in love with them like we did! We just adore the lace in the picture underneath – but which one would you choose?

In The Salon, to the side of The Grand Hall, our Enchanted aisle and ceremony room dressings looked stunning against the quaint decor. Did you know that we offer aisle and ceremony styling too? We particularly love this rustic and earthy style, complete with wicker hearts and ivy seat garlands.

Within The Salon we were also joined by our new preferred supplier The Red Olive Catering Company, showcasing mouthwatering examples of their canapés, desserts and Jello shots! They are truly an amazing catering service, with a delicious menu!

Outside, in the Hall’s grounds, our friends from The Posh Cart Company parked up their gourmet coffee trike and traditional ice cream cart and spent the afternoon supplying our guests with the most delicious treats – it goes without saying that they were a big hit and we especially loved that they were decorated in our branding!! These guys have great things on the horizon, and we can’t wait to work alongside them more often (and eat more of their ice-cream too!):

Traveling back inside the Hall and up the main staircase, guests were free to explore the museum before viewing our Metallic Luxe theme and aisle dressing showcased in the upper suite. This particular theme is a mix of copper and metal finishes, complimented by blush pink tones to give a luxurious feel. We absolutely love our shimmering, gold sequined table runners in this theme, along with the variety of beautiful vases we have to offer.

And finally, we have some exciting news to round this blog off with… we are happy to announce that we are hosting another open event this summer! This time it will be held at the stunning Newstead Abbey venue in Nottingham on the 30th July – don’t forget to put it in your diaries! You’ll get to see all of the rooms that we photographed in our Metallic Luxe Shoot last month, view our collection of hire themes and props, and meet our wonderful suppliers – we can’t wait to see you!
